“South City” is located in the Bay Area, and as evidenced by its name, the city is found about 10 miles south of the City of San Francisco. This city is home to about 67,000 people, and it is a residential oasis that offers shopping, coffee shops, and outdoor recreation. Also referred to as SSF, this area is sometimes called the “Birthplace of Biotechnology”, as it is home to many biotech firms, including Genentech. Most residential subdivisions – including Sunshine Gardens, Winston Manor, and Mayfair Village – are found west of Highway 101, while the area east of the highway is dominated by industrial facilities and modern office buildings.
Unlike its neighbor to the north, South San Francisco isn’t a major tourist destination. You may know the city for its famed “South San Francisco The Industrial City” sign or the local produce available at the South San Francisco Farmers Market, which is held at Orange Memorial Park. With so much to offer, South San Francisco may be the perfect next home for you.
